This can be either an odd item or something unusual about the circumstances of the find.

---------------------

This is probably the oddest find I have come across.

One of the many things I collect are fantasy cloth maps - mostly from computer games. I always check the handkerchiefs and scarves since this is where loose maps often wind up (and sometime you can find things like souvenir scarves with a map of Andorra!). One afternoon in a store I found a cloth map for Ultima IV for a whopping $.79. I kept looking and found a total of seven of them. Why would someone have seven of these lying about (cloth game maps are uncommon enough that these had to have come in together) - I could see it if someone collected cloth maps (like me) but then there would been bound to be others besides just the Ultima IVs. Not that I am complaining - $.79 each was a steal - just kinda baffled.

Since I'm retired I have the time (and inclination) to look into this sort of shop wherever I go. My most recent finds include a Mamod steam traction engine like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131376416951

for £20, a TomTom satnav for £5, and the complete run of Gerry Anderson's UFO TV series on DVD as two £2.50 boxed sets. I can't say I've found anything really weird recently - apart from all the horrible stuff where I wonder why anyone in their right minds would possibly want to buy it - but it's fun looking.

Found an old Roman Missal from the 1940s at a Goodwill thrift shop. It was in some old postal packaging as well, initally addressed to a church in Cuba.

Bought it for my mother, since she's all about old church stuff.

Mrs. Bear collects old church stuff also - I once bought her an old portable kit that Catholic priests would use to administer last rites. It was on the display shelf behind the counter and the clerks were afraid to touch it since they had convinced themselves it was somehow related to voodoo. They were really glad when I bought it.

Got the Spanish 2D and 3D blu-ray release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 for £2 (about $3) today. Looks like it also includes the English version and extras.
