I have sometimes issues with my actual HDMI cables. (I bought them around 2010, then, they certainly need upgrade). I plan to change them to better cable, most modern.
Is it OK to get a cheap HDMI like Syncwire ?
Or is it better to get brand cables (not so expensive, but like Panasonic) ?

I just buy the cheapest cables. It's a digital connection so it's not affected by external things like analog cables could be.

That's what I was thinking too, but what about malfunction due to cheap material, or manufacture... ?
Lot of people reports that PS4 loses HDMI signal in some case causing by the bad cable furnished with the PS4.
(My PS4 has this problem when I connect it to the lumagen... )

Unlike the past when analog was king, I did lean toward higher quality interconnects and speaker wire.

Today, the only thing I would buy in a higher quality cable is speaker wire (because it's still analog) and really long HDMI cables (because of distance issues). When it comes to components that are close to together that require HDMI connections between them, I am okay w/ the cheapo cables especially if they are six feet or shorter and rated for high data speeds (supposedly there are differences between standard and high speed HDMI cables but I'm sure a "cheaper" high speed cable is fine as well).

I have some Monster and some Amazon Basic HDMI cables, I'll be durned if I can see any performance difference.

There is apparently a difference between older cables designed for HD and newer ones that are UHD-ready, but there's no way to tell which variety an HDMI cable is by looking at it, you have to test it (?). Not exactly consumer-friendly, imo.

I buy whatever ones have the ends on them I like. Easy to see, not too heavy or tight. The wire itself is almost irrelevant. Boring but true.

I kinda like to get HDMI cables that are wrapped in this:

But only if it's affordable.

I though it didn't matter that all HDMI were the same??

I had some thick ones and hate them as they pull on the socket, so if you are going into the lumagen you may want to put something under the plug so it won't
pull down with the weight of the cable.

I learnt the hard way that 1080p and 4K certified HDMI cables are not the same.

My OPPO UPD-205 would never output any video to my Lumagen unit until I used the 4K cable provided with the player.

So... they do matter. But I believe you can't hardly find non-4K ones these days.

Ah, makes sense with newer stuff.

I had an issue with a switcher box not working with the HDMI but straight it was fine. Guess the signal or cable has to do with something then.

Must have been the earlier HDMI cables that didn't matter as much?? Remember reading it somewhere but it was a long time ago.

I just learned this too. Not in a home theater use though. I'm a desktop support tech, and I was setting up a really absurd monitor configuration for a trader.

3 monitors

24 in monitor in portrait mode, a 43 in 4K monitor, 24 in monitor in portrait mode

The video card in his desktop only had mini display ports so I had to use mini display port adapter to connect the displays. Used two mini display port to display port adapters so I could connect the left and middle monitors with a display port cable, but I used a mini display port to HDMI for the right monitor. I guess the HDMI cable was an older type cable because it wouldn't allow the highest resolution while the display port connected monitors could. Dug up a mini display port to display port cable, and then the 3rd monitor was able to display the highest resolution.

Maybe it was because it was the fact that I was using a mini display port cable adapter. Either way that was weird.

This. Amazon Basics are just the ticket. Buy and enjoy.
