I looked around Google image for Who Framed Roger Rabbit Betamax tape covers very little comes up that confirms that the spine has “Beta” on it. I checked eBay and only one item came up. I even tried a search on “widescreen” 0 feedback... The tape is going for $2.99. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHO-FRAMED-RO ... _784wt_698

What comes to possible commercial widescreen editions, I can't recall seeing any. WOW! Would love to get a hold of some. Guess I should check auction sites, but I've never seen one. Thanks.

Gremlins InnerSpace had a small demo at the start showing why the filmmakers want it in letterbox, I still have the VHS rental. VHS yes, I have never seen a widescreen beta tape although one poster says over seas they existed.

You might be right as it would mean new marketing competition for both sides to stay in the market, selling or rental of widescreen tapes.

The 1979 film 'Manhattan" was I believe one of the first to be released in Wide Screen on Betamax. Woody Allen had insisted it be shown in it's orig. aspect ratio when made for home video market. I have it in my basement along with a few Sony Video45's . I still have a Sony Super Beta Hi-Fi player, which I have not used since 1987. There is a seller on E-Bay who sells and restores betamax players only. I was surprised at the pricing of some refurbished players. I may consider selling my player in the near future.
