Shocked to read the thread title. The only time I communicated with him was a brief two-PM exchange, but since I joined this forum last year I've always enjoyed reading his posts. I'm sure I'll continue to do so, with a twinge, as they pop up in searches for info. His passing is a huge loss to the community. RIP.

This is...really unexpected and very sad. I feel as if there are already conversations about our favorite topics I will never have.

We are a very small tight knit community on here, and I cannot even count the number of times Disclord revealed valuable and very detailed information on topics that even myself as a lifelong film devotee and film school grad had no clue about. (Such as the RAIDERS mix originally being in the abandoned VistaSonic format or all the varied usages of Sensurround)
His posts were always warm and friendly and down to earth which is not always a paramount on the Internet.

He will be sorely missed and even though most of us only knew him through the lddb, will always be the Disc Lord.

I second this ****VOTE****

There should Be a Sticky ***In Memory of Disclord*** with "His Archives on the First Page of the Forum". As other Forum sites in the past Dedicated in memory of Dedicated members.

LDDB "Laserdisc" is a close small community

Disclord Supplied the LD community for over 15 years on various sites and devoted his time and resources to All of us on here.

Thanks Julien

Duane

even if a sticky can't be done we should at least keep his posts in his name as he was one of the very, very few to add information to the LD and all
home entertainment community.

and if that can't be done then this forum really isn't much help at all.

I agree with rein-o and grasshopper, something should be done on the forum, in his name, to preserve his posts
It's the least that could be done for a fellow who contributed so much asking nothing in return. I will miss our communications

I became acquainted with Ty in 1995 getting to know him through our interactions on the a.v.l newsgroup. He and I because friends. We drifted apart a few years ago, and I'd lost complete contact with him, but we re-connected in a sorts through this forum. I am deeply saddened by his passing and offer my sincere condolences to his friends and family.

I'm pretty sure Disclord replied to some of my posts here. He will be missed, indeed. He's done some great work.

Very sad news ...

I've had the chance to chat with him a few times about DTS and Hi-Vision LD's.
Seemed very lively hat the time, couldn't let guess that anything was going wrong.

I'm speachless... and really sad to hear that... he was a great person, always ready to help...

I followed his website and forum post since the beginning of my laserdisc adventure around 1995; last year he sent me some valuable technical documents, needed for my future book about laserdisc; and, if one day I'll finish it, it will be dedicated to his memory.

Julien, please leave his nickname online, for posterity's sake, or put all his posts in a proper place.

R.I.P. Ty "Disclord" Chamberlain

That really sucks. I feel bad for not noticing this thread until now. And I'd have to agree with the others, his posts should definitely keep his username.

Good day all

I am not sure if I ever corresponded with disclord, but it's sad to read about anyone who pass away.

I myself have lost my father just over two weeks ago, and the funeral was this past Wednesday 01st October.

My father was 94 yrs young and experienced much in his life including: being amongst the first soldiers who liberated the prisoners in the consentration camps, and I listened to my father for the many hours.

A great wealth of knowledge.

Kindest Regards to all

Wow... I don't even know what to say.

Disclord's posts taught me so much about this format. Hard to believe he's actually gone. :(

It's been almost two months since Ty's passing. I still think about him every day. :(

Shocking,

Haven't been around in awhile, no time for LD's right now after moving. All LD's are packed away in storage trailer for the time being.

So I just got back on here and found this thread, and my jaw just dropped. As many here have already posted, disclord (Ty) had a wealth of info on film, theater, home electronics, laserdiscs and many other formats, and that was just what I could learn of him from this forum in what he offered to share. I'm sure he had many other terrific traits that you could only know in person. I'll miss reading his posts, it's good to know they'll be preserved for future reference too.

The following eBay listing made me think of Ty. He would have been all over this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/251744995353

I hadn't checked in here for a few months until about 2 weeks ago. I was shocked that disclord had passed. I was kind of in the middle of investigating something for him :(

He was a great wealth of knowledge. Some guys post long technical rants and you roll your eyes, but I always read every word of his. He seemed to have made a lot of contacts within the laserdisc and A/V world in general over the years. I've had so many questions come to mind that I feel only he would know the answer to. I'm thankful for the knowledge he passed on to me both through the forum and personal communication. I never talked to him outside of the text of forums or email but I get the impression he was a great guy.

I was hoping to contact disclord about an M-360 that has come back into my possession. Some time back, he was interested in having it for his online archive as it is in superb shape. If there is any possibility of someone carrying the torch for these works, this unit is available on the same terms, free with shipping costs only. Not an open offer, sorry.

I didn't know him, or really anyone else here, all that well. But I am genuinely saddened to hear of tumult in one's life at a time when peace, quiet, and stability are invaluable.

Ty's family posted the COD on FB recently: pulmonary thromboembolism.

Unfortunately, knowing this doesn't make losing him hurt any less. :( :( :(
