I have a lot of records from the 40s to this year and from all over the world. There really isn't any constant in the sturdiness of materials, IMO. Trends change and every lable does things their own way. The LD world was much more stable as there were far fewer labels. US stuff usually sucked and JP stuff was usually great.

Received my pack from Zavvi this very morning including both Guardians... & Star Wars editions and they look GREAT! Wonderful package design & art card designs, really well done. Hope they will continue releasing more titles in the future!

There's been similar releases in Spain, someone showed me on Spanish Amazon recently but I can't find the link anymore. They were mostly Warner Bros and Lionsgate films I think, the only ones I remember are Batman 1989 and a Hunger Games collection. They looked pretty good but I thought I'd wait and see if they got a UK/USA release.

So other studios are trying it out, maybe just using different European territories as a testing ground.

Just found out today that Rogue One has been released in Big Sleeve format as a Tesco Exclusive. Ran down to my local branch and picked one up. It's much nicer than the Force Awakens one in my opinion. Only slight annoyances are that the date on the spine is 2017 rather than 2016 and the red sticker on the front was put on the sleeve rather than the wrapper, not sure if I'm going to risk removing it or not.

Good luck, it sounds like a lot of people in the UK are struggling to find Tesco's that haven't run out. Seems to be store exclusive. As with all collectables though I'm sealed copies will start turning up on eBay soon.

I just checked and Amazon (USA) is selling the Big Sleeve of The Force Awakens. According to the blurb, the Blu-ray is the only format, no DVD. Also, the price is a bit steep at $47 USD. which is a little too rich for my wallet. Shipping is an added $3.99. Too bad, there is no prime shipping.

That's cheaper than an LD would be.

I just ordered this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KJ9FY4I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 from Amazon.

I am intrigued by the "limited edition artwork sleeve". Since it is a UK import, would any of our friends in the UK have any info on it?

Save your money and get the normal 2D DVD or BR release.. The only limited edtion artwork (if there is) is the outer sleeve covering the caddy. I can't say that it was worth an extra $4.00 for. Also, the caddy has 2 discs: one is the 3D BR and the other is the 2D DVD. I do not have a 3D HDTV so I should have bought the DVD version or the 2D BR version. The 3D BR disc is useless to me.

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a good lad residing in the UK willing to help me out in getting my hands on some new big sleeve editions I spotted at Tesco's UK online store today. Unfortunately I can't order anything there myself (suppose this shop is for UK residents only) but would REALLY like to pick copies of the new Valerian, Guardians 2 and/or the Indiana Jones / Back To The Future sets... Who can give me a hand here?

Speaking of Valerian, I just got the limited edition LD-Sized box set.
It's the french version, I don't know if this edition is also available in the US, I didn't found anything on ebay.com.
... but it's very very nice and give the feeling that LD is back (thanks to the 2 LP's in the box!)

And it fits perfectly with my other LD box sets :D

They need to give Episodes II and III the big sleeve treatment so we can finally fill that gap between the Ep I and Ep IV LDs with something :D

HOLY cow that's a truly impressive box set! I recently found a copy of the big sleeve edition for a reasonable price but THIS is even better... may I ask what's on those six discs? I mean, apart from the movie itself, are these all bonus features or...?
