Nice tip, since I'm always buying used I always clean everything LDs, CDs, DVDs, magazines, books, when I get it. No telling what kind of homes they were in. I love microfiber cloths too.
Basic procedure when buying CDs: remove all booklets/paper. Inspect case, replace if cosmetically poor/cracked, if ok clean with anti bacterial wipe then polish with microfibre cloth. I should probably use mild alcohol to disinfect? Would lighter fluid achieve the same? I just bought some Zippo lighter fluid to remove stickers the cool way..do you use any solution Kingpin? I guess if your solvent is too strong the risk is fading the plastic or even worse those cool super tough/thick title stickers on neo carts

When I clean NEO GEO or SNES games I always take 100% Isopropyl alcohol, then the contacts are always nice and clean. For the Gamecase and the Cartridge i use Brillianize or Novus to clean and polish the Game. I can really recomend Brillianize and Novus to everyone, because these products are Perfect (IMHO).

What are your favorite teams? 1.) Yes i can play all my Games very well, who needs 200 hours to master? 2.) Kyo + Terry + Ryo = Perfect.

My father happens to work at a place that makes signs and such. I came up with the general design. Front and back is 1mm stainless steel, laser engraved text. The rest is 10mm POM (plastic). Still haven't made the top for the box, yet. It is also going to be in black plastic, with the Neo Geo logo engraved on the front part and painted white. Not the nicest box in the world, but I like the semi-DIY look it has. This was never meant as a consumer product, so the industrial look fits it nicely in my opinion. All the soldering were done by me.
Extra stuff inside are JROK v4.1 NTSC video encoder, audio amplifier and 4 ampere 5 volt PSU.
Mods done include: Battery mod, which involves disabling the charging circuit to allow disposable batteries. Stereo mod, which at the same time "converts" the board to 5 volt only. Replaced the original BIOS chip with Universe BIOS v3.3.
Video outputs are: Composite video, s-video, component video and RGB. The RGB is wired to AES spec, so the same video cable is compatible (including mono cables, hence the switch). I wanted to have a SCART socket to make things even more versatile, but couldn't find any screw mounted female connectors. Had to compromise with the DIN connector which the AES uses.
I also got a beta firmware update by e-mail from the flash cart creators. That seems to have fixed the rebooting/exception error handling issues. Now to play some games!

It even had glitter in the glue, lol. The previous owner sure loved his hot glue. I've read about a modder (mainly Nintendo) called Drakon that were absolutely crazy with the hot glue. Thankfully it wasn't that bad in my case. I were thinking of a NeoBitz board as well for the video, but didn't seem like it were available anymore. Sounds like they both do the exact same thing anyway. Getting my hands on the JROK were a challenge, but mainly because all the sellers refused to ship outside the US or didn't respond. The memory card slot is an odd feature. My board doesn't have it, but my impression is that it didn't catch on back in the days. Bring your AES high scores to the arcade and back. I still haven't found a favorite, but I'm still trying out different games for the system. I really liked the Metal Slug games, but Waku Waku 7 and Last Blade 2 were fun as well. I'm really bad at fighting games, however.

Cool, I think my next game is going to be 'Nam 1975. Always wanted to play it and it's not astronomically priced. Or maybe I should just save up for one of them carts you linked me to with all the games on em. But maybe it's not the same as having the original game in a box on my shelf. I kinda think that's part of the appeal for me. I mainly play my single Metal Slug game and KOF '96 for years now..I got em for good prices when I lived in Japan

Nam is one of my favorite games, if you can get a copy at a decent price grab it, the price is starting to go up now. Around 5 years back you could still grab new copies of the home game for $30-40, I've seen them sell for as much as $150 recently, which is ridiculous for one of the most common games in existence.

Made a quick and easy video showing my Neo Geo MVS. Probably forgot quite a bit, but whatever. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6g5Qg9pGRkEdit: Hmm, noticed now that the video is kinda choppy. Guess youtube didn't like the codec. Oh well, it is what it is now.
