Yes....the Sony is available here but nissling recommended the Pannys for good SDR results on different SD and HD tv sets

I know that I paid $268 (Amazon) for mine last June without player region conversion. The current Amazon price is $198 and has gone down to $149 in the past.

The player can do 4K HDR to SDR conversion, FWIW.

Thank you for posting this, nice to read about decent players and prices dropping.
When I was looking for a bluray player I needed the analog audio out as my amp is analog only, found one cheap but it was an older player.

Will check out others to see what's available now.

got a 2008 PIONEER BDP-05FD with it's last Firmware update. it's played everything i've thrown at it so far.

it's loading is a little slow, but it seems reliable enough, and it's loaded with analog output options unavailable on most of today' players...

Isn't it funny about the outputs on BD player (and maybe other players too). I have a Sony BDP-S360 BD player that I bought 4 or 5 years ago-. It has HDMI, component, composite, stereo audio and coaxial jacks for output. On the other hand, my BDP-X800 player that I bought last June has HDMI and coaxial outputs only which is significantly less than the S360. It seems we are going backwards in time.

Just because it can do HDR to SDR conversion doesn't mean that it handles the conversion that good. The Oppo UDP-203 can do convert HDR to SDR and even with a custom, peak nit level. It's still nowhere near as good as the Panasonic. Have a look at this video from 6:46.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ys6mpdhaZI
The conversion is the same on all Panasonic UHD-BD players. It's extremely linear and looks pretty much like native SDR. No blown out highlights or missing shadow details whatsoever, very stable to say the least.

nah, merely the "Analog Sunset" at work. companies across the board saving themselves a few pennies, and perhaps maybe the end consumer as well,
since the mass public at large seems to have long since abandoned all pre-HDMI-based A/V gear.

this is the major reason you can acquire some still very fine multi-thousand dollar pre-HDMI TOTL A/V receivers and DVD players
for low-hundreds or cheaper these days...

Some time ago, I was looking at the latest Sony AVR's that are for sale. I picked one that seemed to have the necessary specs. so I delved further into the unit. I found that it has 6 or 7 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output. The killer for that AVR (IMO) was that it had only 2 composite video inputs. One was labeled Video 1 and the other Sat/Cable. I have numerous composite video sources: SDP-E800 (for LD players), CED players, DVD changer,DirecTV receiver and VHS tape player. I also have a tape cassette player and a phonograph (unusable if the AVR has only digital inputs). Then I decided to look for another AVR. I settled on a used Sony DA3300ES AVR. It had what I needed: 4 composite video (with stereo audio) inputs, 3 stereo audio inputs and 3 HDMI inputs. It also had numerous digital inputs: 3 toslink jacks and 3 coax. inputs.

The "Analog Sunset" sure seems to be happening. The only problem is that the AVR builders are going to lose customers when the customers have older A/V equipment. What would you do it you hava a Technics turntable and want to hook it up to an AVR with only HDMI jacks on its back?

it's proven itseelf decent enough... especially after a few non-invasive "anti-vibration" tweaks;

it ain't the first-word on speedy disc loading, but it ain't intolerably slow like the early SONY models, either.

even though it's largely immaterial by today's standards, the relative overbuild of this model is physically reassuring,
in an era utterly dominated by absolute bare-bones featherweight BDPs,
a last shout for traditional quality and form factor in a once venerable CE company's home video product...

There is a good Toshiba BD player. I think its model number is BD3200. It ends in 3200 that I am sure. If you flash it with the Australian firmware you can change region codes with a secret number code in the menu system.

I found an Oppo BDP-103EU I'm interested to buy
This is not the Darbee version.

Can't remember which one it was, if it's the 103-Darbee or standard 103-EU player which had some kind of issue with firmware?
Can someone inform me what the problem was with one of these players?
Did the same problem from BDP-103 also affect the successor BDP-105D and BDP-105EU players?

Would you recommend buying the BDP-103D or BDP-103EU player at all?

I just picked up some new furniture for my work room, really nice cabinets and they hold my art supplies very well.
Found them from a google search and I was very happy with the transaction.

Couldn't be better.
