signofzeta wrote: People who like OG Macross but not 7 are emotionally stunted children who only liked the original show for the robots. Ah no, I like the original show because it was an epic and at times gritty war story. It also had love put into it in the animation. Sorry I'm sure there are plenty of Japanese fans who also can't abide goofy space vampires, speakers on Valkyries and crappy aerial combat animation. Just look at episodes like 18 of SDFMTV, Pine Salad. Slow down the animation. You have shells entering the armor of Q-Rau suits and splintering the armour into hundreds of shards, you have individual vents moving, you have a gorgeous aerial combat scene. When did you have that in 7? When did anything good happen in 7? I guess when they find the "centre of the universe" at the end it almost got interesting and connnected to the original. All a lot of fans (maybe not you) want is a true continuation. Macross II had it visually and in tone but no real connection to the fate of the Megaroad. They want the story of how contact was lost with it and the fate of its passengers. Quote: Just because Kawamori grew as a person Hahaha, that's hilarious, he simply took over writing, directing and controlling the franchise because no one else was interested in doing so. Turns out he's a hack writer, hack director and hack producer, if a brilliant mecha designer. Although he's only really had one ground breaking design. Talk about one hit wonder. You can be "different to all the other gaijin" and more "enlightened like the Japanese" all you want, Macross still sucks now. At least I can think for myself instead of trying to "less gaijin" or "more Japanese" like you always seem to do. Actually I know people like you, they're called weeaboos I think. You're definitely one.

Don't really know or think zeta is that but I was roflmao. I think the story is great but more of the love story, love won, love lost love found love forgotten and even more. I don't watch something like the original macross for the battles or anything like that, its a soap opera for kids and young at heart and let's really acknowledge that part.

I’ve definitely renounced my own culture, that much is true, and there is a lot I like about Japan, but I’m for sure not one of them. My weed intake alone makes me an antisocial danger to society by Japanese standards. I hate fish, have no respect for authority, I’m late for work almost every single day. They’d deport me on site.

Awesome posts all around ! Really like this thread and where it has travelled !
Signofzeta, you crack me up man ! What Japanese really have a problem with is gaijin walking down the street eating in public. High form of bad manners, oh, and dont lick your chopsticks while eating ! NO, NO ,NO ! ! !
Also read that they used to wrap money in a paper covering while doing transactions. Don't know to what extent this custom occurs now. Woe to the person that is caught littering there, BIG MISTAKE..... Its OK to p**s in public and get totally s**t faced with your boss though ! Just NEVER pour your own sake, your buddies have to pour for you. If you are ready for a refill you pour another for your drinking companion, tipping them off that you need that refill pronto...... Cool customs there. Would love to go and poke around someday before i take a dirt knap !
Cheers mates

I don't like Japan, I lived there for many years on account of having no work in Australia. I like their products tho tasuke wrote: i was gifted this guy from family the other day, really brings back the memories; the KENNER ESB original was one of my five favorite favorite action figures as a boy, and this modern BLACK SERIES iteration totally blows it away; That's a nice figure. I have the Tomy Marmit of it, great original costume
