Hi,

Like I said on topic, I'm getting trouble when reading ntsc ld's, I select ntsc on my ld and insert the disc and it just wont read it. Just stops and sometimes ejects them, they are clean has new... Got it to work only one time today (gun's n roses concert in japan, japanese edition) and all other tries it failed has all my ntsc discs. They work fine on my sony mdp 500 ntsc player.
PAL discs reads with no problem at all.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Well, tbh i've seen a lot more eheh, didn't want to feel embarrassed.

Anyway it was not me being noob, the problem persists, it's strange, it plays with no problems pal discs but ntsc ones it's hard to read at first try, this player was on storage for a while, any idea what can be the problem?

can't really help you, don't know much about pal/ntsc players.
my only guess Is the cable?? either its bad or you need to run 2, one for pal and one for ntsc??
good luck.

Possible, I would understand if it had problem reading both pal and ntsc discs but only being ntsc, that confuses me. I can always read my ntsc lds on my only ntsc sony player but I would like to take full advantage of my pioneer and ofc have it 100% operational.

Hoping for some Pioneer experts reply. :)

Thanks anyway.

Are you making the drawer close by pressing "play"? For some reason that sometimes confuses dual standard players. Try putting in the disk and closing the drawer then pressing play once everything has stopped moving.

Thanks but it does the same thing, some works and 1st, 2nd 3rd try, others just don't, it's like it doesn't have a ld inside.

Well, I tought it was only ntsc but now started to do it on my pal discs to, audio cd's won't even read and ejects it.

I'm starting to think it could be dusty lens or bad laser alignment.

Seems like it didn't like to be stored for a few years.

Can you explain the symptoms in a bit more detail ? - in particular when you insert a disc does it spin up ? Give a second by second account if possible.

I'm not familiar with your player, but the most common LD problems are:
* A small rubber belt at the front of the player getting either greasy or brittle with age and slipping while the player tries to clamp the disc. Replace the belt and generally you are golden.
* Laser sled rails getting sticky/dirty and the head getting stuck, try gently moving the head on the rails a bit.
* Pads on the clamper (thing that holds the disc) getting dirty/greasy/worn. Give them a clean. You can replace them - but it's a bit involved.

If you store players vertically grease/oil/lube can drip onto parts that it's not supposed to reach which can trigger the first two issues.

MP.

I have the exact model.
The thing about not playing compact discs could be some fine adjustments to the laser I believe. I made a topic about it on this forum a while ago about my own player.
Could the drawer be sticky and not closing properly?
The lens should not be cleaned if it isn't really dirty and when playing discs at high rpms, there shouldn't be any dust building up.
Also, there is a coating on the lens which could mess up PQ if tampered with.
I would suggest you open up the player and check the mechanical functions when you try to load a disc. The fault can be lying somewhere in between as it recently has played both NTSC/PAL.
Belt, as megapixie wrote, should be replaced. I don't know the original part number for this or if there is a generic belt to be used.

The loading belt at least on later players is SCQ4.0. I don't have any experience with the 1750, though.

Thanks for the reply guys.

Megapixie, sometimes when I put the discs, happens a lot with ntsc, rare with pal ld's, I load the disc and when it's supposed to load the disc it just does a *clink* *clink* and the player just stops and does nothing more. On the screen doesn't even recognize if it a LD, CD or CDV.

I going to take my player to do a decent repair on an hifi service near me, I have already spoken with them and basically they are saying the same thing has you guys do, I don't want to open it by myself and try to do anything, not really used to do this kind of things and it's better to let people who knows to do this.

Anyway it shouldn't be that expensive, they can check it for free and then repair if I want to.

Thanks!

Did you get it fixed? Curious to know if it was an easy fix or not. :)
