So I won a CLD-D504 off of eBay recently and for a couple of plays it was pretty good
Then a few days I started getting wierd artifacts when I played the 2nd side of discs that is easily noticable on CAV discs when the player is reading the other side through switching to Side B (These don't appear when playing any CAV side as Side A)
Don't know if its actually a duel laser that needs cleaning or if something else is going on

There are a few separate alignments for side B, these are out of adjustment.

Are you sure you mean CAV?

Yes, its easily noticable during the players Side B playback on CAV discs or sides (Its not that noticable to my eyes at least from what I remember during Side B playback on CLV)

Go to the LD manuals here and look at the service manual for the CLD-D604, you can use that.

One last thing, about 3 times I did get a U1 error code (Straining motor I guess from once when switching to Side B or a Turtle side disc (Before the wierd things happened with lines popping up in the middle/end of CAV discs) and 2 more when I inserted a disc)
Most of the time the player plays
Could I also need a belt replacement? (Also if I have to realign still, looks like I'm gonna have to learn how to take apart my 1st LD player (I just hope this doesn't require anything other then a screwdriver since I don' t know how to solder stuff yet)

OK, so I'm about to order a Generic SCQ3.6 belt tomorrowEDIT: I ordered the belt today off eBay. (Just turned the player on today after a few months of unuse) and gotten a few U1 errors)
While I'm having a little trouble understanding that CLD-D604 service manual that I was said to look up for my CLD-D504, I wonder how hard or east it would be to replace the load belt as mentioned. (Maybe even a tutorial vid on disassembling a LD player for the belt)
Really don't wanna end up screwing this up since this is my 1st time having to service a LD player

Look no further!
Check this link.

I guess this tutorial can be used for several models. I'm not sure though if everything he does in the video is of use for you. - Good luck! :)

WOW!! a lot of extra work in that video. just remove the complete tray with bezel still attached and replace the belt working on the inside.

It might not be the most efficient way to replace the belt and the video could be trimmed down and edited for the purpose of showing off what exactly needs to be done. However, I like that he does technical talk during repair and that he does it in real time. By the comments on Youtube, looks like the thread starter found the video before I posted it. :)

OK so my belt finally arrived and I watched some of the vid
Though it seems like I'm unable to pop off the front bezel so it seems like I'm unable to get to the belt unless I know how to get something else released thats preventing me from doing so. (I unscrewed the main case top and also the screws holding in the bezel so far)

Well I just found out how to spend the gear manually to get the CD Drive part of it to slide out
But I still can't get the whole Laserdisc disc tray to slide out so I can easily change the belt
Anything else I'll have to remove?

If the player powers on what I do is simply open the tray with the eject button, then with tray out unplug the player, leaving tray in open position. there are two plastic tabs on the end of the tray on either side you need to press inward, then you should be able to slide the tray out.

You don't need to take anything else apart to change the belt (other then the top lid)

hope this helps.

Thanks for the info:) I was able to replace the belt easily now and once the belt is replaced and the top reassembled, I'm finally able to load LD's normally again, plus I no longer get those line artifacts when playing CAV sides with the laser flipped in Side B
