Hello!
So i'd like to finally get my player fully working.

What's going on:
1. I turn it on.
2. The laser starts moving back and forth and it looks like it's searching for a disc
3. No disc spins. Neither LD nor CD.
4. The laser assembly moves to around just outside the edges of the CD.

It displays messages such as PLAY or CLOSE if i press a specfic button; otherwise it just shows 0 0m00s on its LCD - all the time.

I got it this way from a local auction site (and it was damn cheap) - can I do anything? Or should I search for someone who can fix it?

If the unit does not display LD or CD in front of the 0 0m00s corresponding to what you put into the player then the laser is not detecting a disc in the player. Either a bad laser or electronics.
