I just bought a Pioneer CLD-1030, said by the seller as tested and working...and it seems I blew $109 because when I turned it on, it's making this ugly noise. Help?

Sorry but ugly noise won't help you or anybody to help you too much.
Are there any signs of damage from the outer box, did you try to take the top off to see what this "ugly noise" is??
More info to help us will help you :)

Well, I opened it up, and it seems the pickup motor is stuck.

Pictures will be coming soon.

Correction: Got it fixed. The pickup's spring was getting in the way of things.

Good deal, hope you enjoy the player.
I've never had a 1030 but right now a working player is the nicest thing to owning LDs

Agreed, pretty much any player that works is a good player.

It might have gotten a bump in shipping, people don't know how to ship them, last one I got was thrown in the box with a few paper bags.... needless to say there was a lot of broken plastic when I opened it.

Sometimes you can bring them back with a little patience.. and if they aren't too far gone.
Good luck sounds like you're on the right track.
