I just got a copy of "The Alamo" Director's Cut with Dolby Digital AC-3. For some reason, it will not play on my Pioneer CLD-2080. When I start it, it acts like it will start, then it stops. Tried all sides with the same results. I then tried it in my older Magnavox VC-8010. It plays on that unit just fine, except there is a tremendous amount of very loud static noise in the audio. I thought this might be because of the AC-3 sound, which the Magnavox is not equipped for.

I tried some of my other Laser Discs on my Pioneer CLD-2080 and they play just fine. Does anyone have any idea why this particular movie will not play on the Pioneer but will on the Magnavox? Any idea how to get it to play?

The noise from the Magnavox is because it’s sendiing the AC-3 wavefom out the analog audio out (just noise).

You should post a video of the Pioneer in action where we can hear the noises it’s making.

I agree. If it sounds like the disc is slipping, cleaning the turntable mat will help some, but you'll probably need to replace the rubber for a permanent fix.
