I decided to pickup a local CDV488, sadly it is pretty much DOA, I replaced the belt but couldn't get it to play discs successfully, I did get it to read a CD and then play for about 5 seconds, then it quit. LDs could not even spin up to speed.

Now it will not recognize any disc, when disc inserted it acts like the tray is empty, the laser seems to not find a reflection at all.

I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to find a parts unit to help try and repair this player, I see on ebay there are a few similar Philips models but was not sure if they share the same parts like pickup, spindle, etc.
