I've changed the belt twice now. The first time it lasted at least a year with no issues. Replaced it a few months ago and already it's having trouble lifting again. I'd imagine other parts that are worn simply need replacing, but my knowledge is limited and it's not a high end player anyways. Thinking of simply putting it out to pasture, but maybe a good fix is simpler than I think? Don't think it's worth it to get a professional bit of work done on it. |

Good to see you back. Don't know if its worth getting fixed but it does share parts with other players that may be worth keeping and parting out in the future for yourself. Other thing is, are you sure any oil or grease is off from the new belt?? There may be some type of contaminate? |

If the stuff the belt lifts is too hard to lift it won’t lift it. It probably just needs cleaning. |

Try cleaning the pulley on the motor when you replace the belt. |

During any belt replacement I perform, I clean off the two gears that the belt is going to be installed on with alcohol. I also use some Intraclean (a tape deck cleaner no longer made) to clean off any finger oils on the belt to ensure nothing is going to cause slippage issues. I’ve only needed to replace the belts once on about four of my players and none of them had any additional issues in the past 10+ years (although my two Denon, LA-3100 units do struggle to lift the tray when there is no disc but I now suspect it might be the ball bearings in the disc clamper being a bit jammed and making the spring assembly not work smoothly to separate the clamper from the spindle; maybe I’ll write up something about this later on). |
