As the picture indicates, place the piece I have circled in green into the slot circled in red.

You may have to unscrew the entire magnetic clamper assembly to maneuver the peg into the slot (or try to force it in place but it might be difficult to do). It is held in place by four screws on top (it's the entire metal assembly). Lift it up and just pop it back into place.

Hope this helps

I got it back in. However, the middle clamps don't seem to depress?:

Looks like a plastic piece from the clamper is now lying on your spindle motor. Can you take a picture?

Not sure that would cause the wrrrring noise but I guess you'll have start there anyway.

At this point, if you continue to have issues, might want to let someone with experience to fix the machine for you. Trying to troubleshoot like this is difficult.

Found a possible culprit in the second photo.

Yep... your magnetic clamp assembly fell apart and there are actually three tiny springs along w/ that larger one too. Not sure how that happened on it's own as that part is not that fragile and yet it's in pieces.

Here is a pic on how it should look like.

Image

You might be able to fix it if you can locate the three small springs (one of which is shown in the pic) and then reassemble it (the large spring goes in the middle of the assembly). If you can't locate all the parts, you'll have to find one from another machine.

And just to help, here are some pics of the unit partially disassembled so you know what to look at.....

Not sure how you are going to fix this unless you can get a spare unit from another machine.

Perhaps i could take it out and try to put the springs back in place?

I have a CLD-3030 that's broken too.... could i use the clamp from that..?

Yes... you can remove the part from the assembly by unscrewing the washer like assembly on top (see the 2nd pic that I posted just a moment ago) and then it pops out.

The CLD-3030 assembly is totally different since this is a single side player. You need an Alpha Turn designed machine which are very ubiquitous. The models you can research would be.....

Pioneer:

CLD-2090, CLD-3090, CLD-D501, CLD-D502, CLD-D702, CLD-V820, CLD-V840, and a few more that I can't remember

In addtion, there are many clones that use the same mechanism from Denon, Mitsubishi, RCA, Pro-Scan, etc...., it's a long list but you can tell by just seeing how similar the machines looks to their Pioneer counterpart.

Good luck

I found two of the three springs. Does it look fixable?

Yes it does look fixable. Find the third spring and then you can just insert the part back in (use the first photo I posted as reference on how it should look like). It simply snaps back in and should stay locked in. The part does move up and down just to let you know.

Found it near the front panel, right most side of the player (looking from the front) It was just loose in the case.

I can look at my own 701 later to see if I find something like it.

It doesn’t appear to be anything critical but hold on to it.

If you can’t find the last spring, I suppose you can see if two can work. Or maybe you can jimmy something up like a spring from a pen. Just have to make sure it’s the same height, diameter, and spring tension as the other two.

My CLD3030 has a spring the same height and size, but it's got a lot more coils. no spaces between them.

Still can't find that last spring. looking for an old pen.

Still no spring; I think that white piece i found goes on the laser rotation device in the back. Im almost certain; I recall seeing it.
