I have been in love with laserdisc since I first saw them in the 80's. Have had one off and on since mid 90's. Have roughly 100 discs or so in collection. Main genre of movies I love are science fiction. I worked on consumer electronics as a repair technician starting in late 80's. Primarily worked on video equipment but never really worked on too many laserdisc players other than mechanical problems. Got out of the repairing of consumer electronics around 2008.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, for pre-digital content, I usually find laserdisc to be the ultimate format and to have magic to it. You see, if you wanted to watch the best of Sci Fi in the '80s and early '90s the best possible home approach was Laserdisc. Often those prints are more complete, more pure (especially sound wise) and closer to the director's intent than DVDs or Blu Rays. It was enjoyed in the time it was meant to be enjoyed in. That is the true magic of LaserDisc. Laserdisc wasn't perfect but it was more perfect than some kid who never existed when a classic movie was made remastering it for Ultra HD in 202X.
