Guess I shouldn't have bought that CLD-950 after all.

Because not even a month later there's now someone on the same site selling a CLD-D925 with a bunch of discs to go with it. Doh!

Granted, there's nothing stopping me from just buying it anyway as a second player...but I'd be able to give the guy a better offer on it with that extra currency.

Well at least I can ask how much he wants for the player, maybe I can still afford it - if he'll even sell it separately. Also for a list of all the discs he's got, he only took photos of the box sets but he had the Definitive Edition and the special edition box sets of Star Wars, Deluxe CAV edition of the Lion King, Terminator 2 with a bronze logo, stuff that already sets the lot above the usual Yet Another Copy of Speed deal.

If you don't have a large collection then you can afford to pickup some lots with Speed and T2, it won't hurt you.

If you’re serious about LD there is no way one player will do. Not nowadays.

I'll probably be in for a long wait on that one, the seller doesn't want to split up the listing quite yet and he wants like a grand for the whole lot which is way out of my league.

Finally got a cabinet to put the player in!

Unfortunately I only have like five discs so far so I had to fill it up with all this other crap.

I am also very much a noob to the world of LD.

I picked up my very first LD player at a yard sale for practically nothing over the weekend.

I'm am testing the waters right now to see of LD is for me. If I like it I am sure that I will want to upgrade my player as the one I picked up is a pretty low end model. Seeing as you guys seem to frown upon buying players off of eBay and risking them getting destroyed in the mail. Where would you guys recommend buying a player?

Please please please take that sticker off. If you have one on your hat take that one off too. Thanks!

I remember riding the subways and seeing the poor fools who were going to job interviews with overcoats and they still had the labels on their sleeves.
Very sad indeed.

I just now noticed that Yamato kit. That's now much that stuff bothers me. :)

I did remove the sticker, now there's a really obvious square where the sticker used to be where the black plastic is slightly lighter colour than the rest.

And that bothers me!

It’s lighter under the sticker? Not darker?

A little bit. It actually looks worse in this picture.

Well, I’m pretty sure that’s residue from the sticker. Residue that wouldn’t have been there if the sticker was taken off 20 years ago but should come off easily even now.

Yeah its OK to remove stickers, like on guitars, remove the plastic film on the pickguard or even on your remote they will look nicer :)

Give it a wipe with some windex or something

Or use some Scotch tape. Put it over the sticky residue and then pull off the tape quickly. This will usually pull the old residue off w/o causing any damage to the plastic vs. using any kind of chemicals. You will have to do it several times before all the residue comes off.

It's not sticker residue, it feels exactly the same under the fingertip as the rest of the plastic.
