Hello guys!

I saw a laserdisc player in a HiFi store sometime in the early 80's and probably had to scrape my jaw from the floor. But I was barely a teen so of course it was grail stuff - unreachable :( Never got a player back in the days but never really let go of the dream either, so after buying a few discs from Japan just because I decided it was time to make it happen. This was before summer.

Now I'm counting 200 discs and a couple of players (and the wife acceptance factor is getting lower by the day  ). I mostly buy Japanese releases but got a whole bunch of U.S. discs in a bundle with my second player. I don't really have any goal with my collection other than getting the discs I want.

Currently I'm trying to get subs working using a genlock but having a hard time finding a sub player that works. I can't use Sub Station Alpha since it won't run on current 64 bit versions of Windows and I'm not too keen on adding a puter just for running XP. Soo, if you've got any suggestions I'm all ears :geek:

Apart from movies and music I collect and play arcade games (another space consuming hobby with low WAF  ). I spend an unhealthy amount of time tinkering with 3D printers and anything else that goes bleep and whenever I'm let out of the house I fly quadcopters.

Peace

Install Windows XP in a virtual machine on your current 64 bit O/S.
Inside that virtual machine you can run Substation Alpha just fine.
Hope this helps.

That's an option, but slightly too quirky even for my taste despite the fact that I like tinkering 8-) Might try it anyway...

I've tested the Penguin and Greenfish subtitle players from the list here, but neither works a 100% for me. Penguin, at least, is open source so I might be able to modify it for my needs.
