Yes, last year I sold my laserdisc player and my collection of movies.

And a couple of months later I started regretting it, so 3 days ago I bought a player and a lot of 60 discs.
The player is a shabby CLD-950 with all its faults. But have my eyes on a S9 or R7G from Japan at the moment.
Need to get a AC3 decoder too, but all in its time... No rush.

I will see you around on the forum...

Hello retro_vegard,

Don't beat yourself up for a mistake you made in the past. We all make them from time to time, so just start the new year with a resolution to rebuild your lost collection! As you said, there's no rush. Just do it at your own pace, as time and available funds permit. Hopefully there was nothing too rare in the collection you sold that will be difficult to replace in short order. About the worst regret I have was the short period of time when I stopped collecting, in the early New Millenium, I think. There may have been some great deals that I missed out on during that period of a year or two, but at least I didn't sell what I already had. Beyond that, there are a few titles I wish I had bid higher for on eBay, for which I was outbid over the years. Some of these may be hard to locate copies of, but one just has to keep a watchful eye! At any rate, it's great to have you with us here on The Forum! Good luck to you in replacing your collection, and we'll look forward to hearing from you in the future!

Best Regards,
David

Welcome back!

Is LD collecting like smoking? It's hard to lose the habit? :-)

I sold a few very rare music LDs some years ago and shortly afterwards hugely regretted doing so.
Thankfully I've been able to rebuy them again but it did take about 5 years and a huge amount of patience.
I won't be making that mistake again!

This time I will be a lot more picky about the discs I buy, I will of course get my favourite movies but I will try to collect more rare and weird stuff and boxes :)
And music LDs.. That´s something I never bought back in the 90s.

For my part, I was stupid enough not really getting into the laserdisc format until six years ago. But I'm glad I did, as the prices have increased over the late couple of years and there is very expensive to import titles these days. I already knew about the laserdisc itself for a long time, but didn't put any interest in it.
For your sake, welcome back! Good to see fellow norwegians here. ;)

Good that we can come to our senses and do a course correction !

It is not over till it is over !

"Keep 'em spinning" is my rally cry .......

Hang tough, stay the course, keep the powder dry, and " damn the torpedo's, full speed ahead .... "
