I guess it's time for me to do my Forum Taxes and chime in on how I would compare the Star Wars movies.

I think Episode IX is the worst of them all. It is downright bizarre that this movie got released in the state it did. The bones of the story are bad and the editing is even worse. The entire sequel trilogy is J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson having a back-and-forth argument about what the story should be, and IX is where it really collapses. The excuse that Abrams "had" to cram two movies into one because of VIII is just that: an excuse. Especially because VIII is only what it is because Abrams handed Johnson a movie that ends mid-scene with no notes about what should happen next in the immediate-, short-, mid-, or long-term.

tl;dr: the whole sequel trilogy is a mess, but the last movie is the only one of the Disney-made films that I would say is aggressively putrid. I waffle back and forth on whether it's worse than II.

Here's how I rank them all from best to worst: V, IV, VI, VIII, VII, III, I, II, IX

Episode 8 is a lot better if you interpret as an act of malicious compliance; that Rian Johnson gave KK and Iger exactly what they wanted, in the dumbest way possible.

It's almost too perfect a sh!tstorm to not be.

I noticed a lot of people say Rogue One is their favourite, even ranking over the original trilogy. I don't get that at all.

Peak woke casting, tons of crappy CGI and the battles were such a waste - it basically looks like a refereed paintball game sometimes with cover evenly spread out. Compare one of the best land battles ever filmed, Hoth, to this and its a damn joke.

The gunships were such a generic and stupid looking design too. ALL the design work post Episode I lacks that Star Wars quirkiness. I guess you have to have new types of storm troopers to sell more toys but no one buys the toys apparently, just because they're made. You apparently have to have actual cool designs to sell toys.

I'd always wanted to know the story of the Bothan Spy Net but after seeing it I wish I never had. At least I didn't pay for it.

C'mon, Star Wars LDs aren't all that rot, this thread applies to some other titles. "The Raccoons Collection", for one.

I mean Rot in the Rock Rot and Rule sense.
