I would like to know if laser lens of LD player could hit the disc when it is trying to read old, hard to read LDs ? Sometimes I heard "clack, clack, clack" noise continuously when optical pick up move near to the rear of the disc. Tks.

While this can happen its not due to age of disc unless its majorly warped.

If its hitting there is either something wrong with disc or player.

I sometimes hear that, but it has always been the tilt of the mech causing it in my adventures.
