What do you think is the most valuable LD in your collection -- first, to the community in terms of its market value, and then in terms of your personal interest?

My most valuable was the "Hollywood: A Celebration of the American Silent Film" box set, until it sold recently on eBay. Now it's the Library of Congress "Origins of Film" box set.

My most-valued personally is probably John Wayne's "The Alamo" director's cut, because it is a much more emotionally satisfying movie with all that missing footage restored. Until it's released that way on Blu-ray, I can't even face the prospect of living without it.

Well, I don't actually think that I have anything that is too valuable. I tend to not think about them in those terms. I've just got them because I think that they are great really.

I suppose if I had to...the STAR WARS: The Phantom Menace Laserdisc seems to go quite well still. I suppose that it is the only higher-resolution way (and I chose those words very carefully) to see the cinema cut of the film that has not already been tinkered around with by GL.

I also like my STAR WARS Definitive boxed set, it still goes quite well. Likewise my STAR WARS 'Faces' trilogy...specially now since the suspect colour timing (and yet more tinkering) to the OT that has occurred with the new Blurays.

All my Laserdiscs that have DTS on them have a higher mark-up on them than the regular titles.

Finally, I really should mention my Dr Who - Terror Of The Zygons BBC PAL Laserdisc. I know that it would sell for more than I paid for it as it is not available (as yet - thanks BBC!) on DVD.

Not counting signed LDs from their respective artists. Tears For Fears was quite surprised to see me handling over a Japanese LD of their Greatest Hits (1992) in Singapore! As was Chick Corea in Montreal

The members of Seikima-II were beyond flabbergasted when I showed up at A-Kon last year with a copy of the American Ultimate Teacher disc. As near as I could tell, they were unaware it had ever been released here!

I have no idea what movie I have that have the most value in the market. I'm still very new to laserdisc, and most of my movies are from a big lot of 124 movies (and a player) which I bought for around $260.

There are so many great movies and covers/boxes for them, hard to pick one. If I have to pick a movie I value the most, it have to be Stargate. That is the very first movie I ever watched on laserdisc. I hope to get a nice looking deluxe edition of that movie one day.

Coolest cover value is Cannibal Ferox with the soundtrack and the barf bag

Strangest, unknown value is TED 2 Laserdisc from the 2nd annual convention. Only one I have ever seen is mine.

Coolest weird thing I have is 18 movie preview discs that cover 5 years of movie previews. Covers from 1990 to 1995 and covers about 300 movies. Value is unknown because I have the only ones I have ever seen and they are unique.

Hard to tell with market value, but probably the DW Griffith Father of the American Movie Japanese set. The one's I'm most proud of are some of the series I have been able to complete, because some of them took so long, (that last one always kills you). The Republic Cliffhanger Serials and the original Criterion issues before they changed their package style. Finding a large box King Kong Criterion took forever.

transformers the movie, hillcrane release, goes on ebay for thousands... i got it for 150$

Talk not of the transformers movie. It will make me cry, nice score! The closest to cool I almost got was a sealed copy of song of the south for 25 bucks. Someone beat me to it. Coolest thing I did was score about 10 rare music LDs for 2 bucks each and to add punishment to the pain the person combined the shipping on them. They averaged 70 to 200 each. I was happy.

Well now....

X-men is up there on the list for Market valued late release Japanese titles.

One of my personal favorites is my PAL release of "Damnation Alley".
Try finding that title on VHS in a watchable condition.....
Low budget and corny in parts, yet a cult classic all the way...........

Hm, most valuable... Got quite a few items in my collection like:

- The Matrix
- The Cell
- The Red Spectacles
- The Studio Ghibli Boxset
- Neon Genesis Evangelion Boxset

Guess they all are hard to find. But still got some titles on my wantlist like X-Men or The Sixth Sense, wondering if I ever find one of those for a reasonable price...

I'd say mine is either Sleepy Hollow or House on the Edge of The Park.

However, my favorite is X the Man With X-Ray Eyes, just because I got a good deal on it and it has one of the best looking covers of any LD.

I have a sealed copy of Mission Impossible 2 which i managed to get of the database a few years back. its framed and on my wall.

Maybe one day I will open it and listen to superb soundtrack it is suppose to have.

Dam, I can't believe how many of you guys have copies of x-mens, cells and MI:2s How did you all manage to get copies?! I live in Japan, but never come across any thing close to that caliber of awesomeness

Not sure if theyre valuable or not but I do have at present 36 titles that were realeased in the 2000s in my modest collection of LDs (a couple of doubles in there though). Just found Jin-Roh, a 2001 release about 2 weeks ago actually.
I also found a copy of this tenchi muyou demo which I think is limited to 2000 copies. So thats pretty cool I thought. Still, I would love to get a copy of x-men one of these days
