Just saw a ebay seller calling those RCA ced or whatever they were a laserdisc in their listing. Would enjoy correcting them but it would probably fall on deaf ears.

this is due to lack of knowledge.

a local goodwill had about 200 of them, the sign posted said "laserdisc for sale"
i don't know how a video disc is called a Laserdisc, that would be like someone calling a VHS a Lasertape
since it's a video format.

I've seen some better ones I can't recall the item now but it was while browsing for Laserdiscs. It put me off from buying it that's for sure. It was only a few months back? But at the end of the day they are optical discs a DVD HD-DVD CD CD-Rom can easily be mistaken I doubt I could mistake a VidoeCD music disc those are a what 8"? I don't have one I've only seen them. Laserdisc well some might think its LP as some LP came with crazy looking colours until you tell them and see the expression on their face.

I've seen a CED described as a "Beta disc". Maybe they were just trying to explain that it wasn't the successful format?

I got tired of trying to get people to move their CED Ebay listings out of the LD section, but I just don't think some people know the difference. They see "Videodisc" and think they're all the same.

Kinda like this microwaving youtuber: Microwaving a Videodisc

That used to be named "Microwaving a Laserdisc" he finally changed it after dozens of people kept telling the idiot it's NOT a Laserdisc (though the description still calls it a Laserdisc.)

Doesn't help that LDs were sometimes referred to as "Laser Videodiscs"

i dont think alot of those listers really care, I've sent a few messages that get ignored. There was even someone selling a mermaid's scar laserdisc who had it listed as mermaid forest, i corrected them too but they didnt care lol

I think most of those sellers want to put their CEDs in a category where it will get more looks as the LD sections definitely gets more looks than the CED section!

i have to correct myself.

if it is due to lack of knowledge then it's because they can't read
there is NO word on the outside of the case that says "laser" anywhere

it's a shame, people who are looking for CEDs can't find them since idiot sellers can't read
or think they will sucker someone into buying them that dosen't know what they are.

I did correct one seller but it was a wasted effort as the listing was never changed.
