There is another 'gag' in that article: 'Cassette Body...' disc, sram and 'hub' which reminds me of cassette tapes, reel to reel hubs, cd's and sdram from a pc :D .
I guess there is no patent on the name 'laserdisc', so everyone could use it for the strangest things.

To be sold by Bilbo Ballbearing from the Lord of the Ringtones.

Very funny/interesting video attempt at cutting 78rpm grooves in the plastic of a Laserdisc to reproduce music then attempting to read this nearly destroyed surface (from a Laserdisc point of view) back on a LD player:

Recording Sound onto a Laserdisc - will it work? Record Cutting

That should prove that scratches -- even in the tracks direction -- are not a major problem for LDs. Laser rot is!

Very interesting & amazing that it still played a watchable image in the LD player after the audio cutting.

Had to giggle though when near the end Michael Bolton walks onto the stage & we hear "oh my gosh..... Michel Bolton..... get him offa here!!!

Thanks Julien.

Cheers

Though not exactly unexpected, since a lot of the movie was shot in Laser Blazer, which was a great Laserdisc/DVD store in West Los Angeles, check out the film A Real Job. (It's on DVD.)

There is one in this music video by We Are Match. The label is scratched off, though.

I believe I can spot a Sony MDP-650 on the right side in the middle of the rack when Jim Carry is screaming at 0.52. There is also a lot of Pioneer karaoke equipment to be found as well on this Columbia Pictures release which is in fact a Sony company or division.

Stranger Things - Season 2 - Opening Sequence

Am I the only one to be crazy enough to see a slightly shaky analog picture on the "The Duffer Brothers" (45th second) and some laser rot LD-style when "Chapter One" appears?

My wife and I watch the Netflix show Frankie and Grace and they mentioned laserdisc in the episode The Spelling Bee [S01E07]:

https://yarn.co/yarn-clip/4d216ea5-2574-4870-bc83-4badf393a961

I seem to remember that there was another shot of her A/V setup and it looked like she had a Pioneer player, but it was too far away to see it clearly.
