Anyone in the bay area know what might have become of Bob Stephens, a big laserdisc fan who wrote movie reviews for the San Francisco Examiner???
He did an interview with me back in April of 1995 for the paper and I'm wondering if he's still around

Sorry, I can't help you. I thought i might grab this opportunity to ask if you knew of any stores in the SF area that sold laserdiscs? (assuming this is where you live) Rasputin is the only place I've found. Thanks

upchuckaroo,
I'm in Gilroy, what city are you in?

To answer your question:
Streetlight Records; SF, San Jose and Santa Cruz
Half Price Books; Fremont, Berkeley
Rasputin Music; SF and other locations
Also, I assume Amoeba Music in SF and Berkeley carries LDs but have not confirmed.

The Amoeba in Berkeley didn't have any that I could find. How is Streetlight Records?

Also, I forget the town, but the Rasputin on Hesperian Blvd. right off the 880 is really good.

Thanks guys, I'm in San Mateo and have not heard of Half Priced Books. I am going to look it up right now and check it out soon. I've had good luck at the Rasputin in San Leandro, Cambel, and Mountain View. I never found much at Street Light SF or Amoeba SF. Vinyl Solutions in San Mateo has a number of LD's but nothing too obscure. Thanks again!

Rasputin Campbell and StreetLight San Jose are less than a mile from one another. So be sure to hit both in one outing.

Half Price books in Fremont has a bunch of AnimEigo's "Samurai Cinema" line, in mint shape, in the underneath section of the LD bin (where overstock/dupes are usually kept). Just saw them there last Saturday, for $4.99 each.

Seems like Bob Stephens stopped writing for the San Francisco Examiner around year 2000. Can't find any online presence for him thereafter.

Thanks rein-o, I was about to ask the same thing. I've Googled him up and down and can't find anything recent (not even an obit). I'd really like to get in touch with him.

I've bought LDs at both Amoeba stores in the Bay area. I don't live in the area any more and it was several years ago, so I don't know the current situation.
