rein-o wrote:  are there that many titles i thought there were only 50,000 or around that There are still 80 or so titles being added every two weeks or so, with no slowing in sight. I think we can hit 60,000. Especially when factoring in the huge number of NTSC releases. STAY AWESOME!

So, of that 52,000, are they all unique movie titles, or are there individual movie titles released in several different LD options, and each option is counted as one of the 52,000?
For example, Hitchcock's The Birds shows three LD submissions for three different releases, would that count as three or as one, being one movie title?

For example, Hitchcock's The Birds shows three LD submissions for three different releases, would that count as three or as one, being one movie title? 52,000 releases. So "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" (1991), which had (I believe) more LaserDisc releases worldwide than any other movie - 27 releases, would count as 27 releases. But many films released by Image Entertainment only had one release, some of them LaserDisc exclusives. Many titles released in the final 2 years of the format's life only had one release. In fact, many Discovision ('78-80) releases were never rereleased on LaserDisc, such as "Bustin' Loose" with Richard Pryor. I own three different releases of "Blade Runner," and each version was cut differently. STAY AWESOME!

vinylcollector wrote: I've got a few that are not in the Database I will get to adding, but some of them scenery discs and all Japanese on the cover, so I don't know what the English name of the LD is being I can't read Japanese. This works for me: Go to Google's advance search page: http://www.google.com/advanced_search Enter the LD reference number in the second search box. Pick "Japanese" from the language drop down menu. Enter "http://artist.cdjournal.com" into the site/domain box. Click on "advanced search" If you didn't get any good results, move the LD reference number from the second search box to the top search box and try again. Once you do get a hit from the cdjournal site, then go there and note the release date of the LD. Copy the appropriate Kanji which matches the largest font on your LD cover and/or obi. Open a new browser window and paste your selected Kanji into google translate: http://translate.google.com/. As needed, make editorial changes to the translated result to make the title even more English friendly. When entering the title to LDDb, use English as the "International Title" and copy/paste the kanji into the "Cover Title" field. That way your end result will show both English and Kanji.
