I had that one in the past, sold it when I picked up the early P&S version as I remember that from my early days of watching it on VHS with the tweaked up audio etc. Terminator, The (1984) [2535]No, it's the second widescreen release of it with the red widescreen label and it's suppose to be the best widescreen release of it on laserdisc at least in North America. I don't know if there's a Japanese version that outshines it. It looks gorgeous to me and definitely better in person. Hard to fully judge captured analog video tho I think my Hauppauge PVR does a half decent job at it. I really like the look of Silver Bullet and I probably had my brightness set to dark when I captured it so it might be hiding some details but it has a nice cool retro look to it. Definitely an ld I can recommend.

Your earlier screenshot posts had a visible vertical squiggle pattern, what did you do to get rid of that? Also, if you could post the LDDB link to the disc you are capturing, that'd be helpful. For every LDDB entry, there is a green button in the upper right for the link. Is this the Terminator disc you captured? Terminator, The (1984) [ID2940NSB]Is the Terminator LD a closer to original copy of the film than DVD/Bluray?

Terminator, The (1984) [ID2940NSB]Is the Terminator LD a closer to original copy of the film than DVD/Bluray? Vertical squiggle pattern would most likely be my Panasonic LX-H670 which reads discs different and shows more flaws. And I have no clue what Terminator was originally suppose to look like. I like how it looks on ld. 9954tony wrote: Also, the Runco LJR II laserisc player was based on the LX-900, in case you weren't aware. You might get a sharper picture turning off the player NR, and then using software NR at the later stage. Unless the NR is automatically on in the player it is off. I know there's a button on the player where I can press it I believe two times or three times to make the NR stronger but I don't ever use that because it makes the video blurrier and shows less details.

I know the LDs were the only way to get the original mono audio, not sure about the last 2-3 years if anything has changed. I believe the later THX version is the best PQ wise but I never had that, just the first widescreen US release and the older odd audio first release. The first widescreen was great but I remember reading they improved the later release.

Jurassic Park (1993) [43115]Captured from the S-Video output of a Denon LA-2300 (CLD-515 clone?) connected to a Hauppauge Impact-VCBe. I think it actually looks pretty amazing as far as LD's go. It's one of my best looking discs for sure. That does look good. I don't know how many versions of the bluray of Jurassic park exist, but the one i have is very washed out. it looks very bad.

Thanks darthmaul26. Going by the rot reports here it appears that all three US releases of this LD feature have issues, pretty unusual that they all have problems given that they are PIONEER pressings. Thanks for posting the picture, a good example of the dreaded rot. cheers . `

It was only last week that I played my copy (US 1990 LBX version) and it was as clean as a whistle fortunately

darthmaul26 wrote: It's rot status is low probability (like most titles), so I don't think it's a known rotter. I probably got unlucky, though at least it only has rot issues on side 1, sides 2 and 3 are clean. Ah maybe I shouldn’t get too cocky here as I’ve actually only run sides 1 & 2 and yet to play side 3 so there’s still the possibility a nasty surprise could be lay in wait for me?
