I think this place was mentioned before, but having had to go down the area for a different reason, I figured it was worth my time to check this place out:

Fat Kat Records and Books

Had a pretty good selection of LDs. Not too many rare titles, but some good titles to find (like WS Scanners, shlock like Alien Intruders.) Had some box sets like Buster Keaton and Ultimate Oz, but they didn't have a price on them--if ya gotta ask...

What surprised me most was that they had a few LDs players for sale--even a HK DVL-909 (assuming it was HK as it said on the front that it plays NTSC and PAL DVDs and VCDs--not for LDs though.)

I walked out with about $80 in LDs. Guy running the place says he has over a thousand more LDs in the back, but just doesn't have the space to display them all. They will be moving so he says he'll have the space then.

Unfortunately, I don't know when I'll be back down in that area to see what else he has, but hey, if any of you are, this place is definitely worth checking out.

Yes, it's a great resource for those of us in the D.C. area. Reasonable prices and generally clean and well protected. You don't have to pay shipping, but there is a sales tax. Hey, they either get you coming or going.

There is a record store called "Deja vu" in Natick Massachusetts. They have like 10 boxes of LD but nothing good. They are all in rough shape. Every time I go there (once or twice ever really) the owner tries to sell me all 10 boxes for a dollar each or less. That would be 10 extra boxes of LD I need to get rid of:)

Ld collecting 101:)
When you find 10 boxes of LDs for cheap...
1-Someone starting to collect LDs..
..holy $ hit I now have so many LDs!!!:)))
2-A LD veteran finds 10 boxes of LDs for free..
..holy $ hit I now have wayyy to many LDs grrrr:((

I'll bump this post.
I stopped in here (Fat Kat) last weekend on my way back from a week in FL.
Pretty nice place with plenty of LD's. The prices are marked on the back of the cover. Although I spent my time there going through the "this weekend only" 25 cent bargin bins before they go out for auction. Not bad, 80 discs I didn't have for $20us, plus $1 for the State.
Pretty nice guy, nice shop, said he gets in 400-500 discs a month. I think this week was going to be 2 for 1 for the better stuff.
If your passing through it's worth the stop, but check for the specials on Facebook before you go, otherwise the prices are basic e-bay type.

wish i still had a place like that over here on the West Coast.

back around 2001~2006 i actually kind of did, a nice little used home video shop
in the GRESHAM area of PORTLAND, OR. called "MOVIES 2 SELL"
they had a large LD stock then, hovering at around $8.00/$30.00 per title IIRC.

i got my first LD player there around 2001/'02 for $15, a 1990 CLD-1080 with remote and manual
that the woman owning and running the place had informed me would play CDs, but had issues spinning LDs.
turned out i couldn't get it to spin anything, and it made a horrendous "rattling"
from the laser pickup after being on for about a minute or so.
never took it back, as i figured i might try fixing it. never was able to.

anyway, some years later, about 2005 or so, i was able to go back over there,
with some cash on hand to pick up my first LDs, and found that they had their stocks
a full 75% off, and i was able to spend the entirety of the $50 i had, plus a little more from my grandma,
putting together a nice beginners collection revolving around the six original STAR TREK films,
-both original edition and early-90's DOLBY SURROUND reissue-
ALIEN, ALIENS and THE ABYSS box sets, T2 SPECIAL EDITION and a smattering of plain vanilla releases,
mostly some favorite 80's films.

alas, i went over there again about 6 months/ 1 year later, and the place was shuttered for good.
too bad, it was the best home video shop i had been in since the ones i have scanty memories
of following my parents into as a child back in the late 80's...

I just stopped by here last weekend and picked up a few discs. Same comments on the selection, nothing too rare and he had the same comment about 400-500 new titles a month. He did tell me he is planning an LD sale in June and will even be giving away a player with some discs. Again, worth a visit if you are passing through.

Not been in awhile, but he has moved a little further south to Ruther Glen. Still had some LDs last I was there.

Yes, I saw that they are in Ruther Glen now.
Its about 3hrs away from where I am now, if I can find other reasons to go I may check it out but also I'm sadly in the process of thinning my collection.
I've got to focus on what I really need.

I would be interested in going this summer but I'm not sure of the plans quite yet.
