Anyone ever encountered a mislabeled disc in a sealed Criterion package? I sold a new, unopened Criterion box set of "Show Boat" on eBay. The shrink wrap was perfectly intact and I had no reason to suspect anything wrong with it. Today I got word from the buyer that upon opening it to play it, he found that disc one, though it had the correct "Show Boat" label, was actually an ABC documentary on an 1989 earthquake. That program was continued on side B, also with the wrong "Show Boat" label. I understand how this happened with DiscoVision and maybe some large-quantity proucers like Image. Bit anyone have any idea how this could have happened with Criterion?
I am sending the buyer disc one from my personal copy of the box set as a replacement, but neithrr of us is very happy about the screwup.

(BTW, I am going on vacation next week so our shop will be closed for about a month. No relation to the Criterion mix-up.)

Manufacturing mistakes happen. I've got a copy of "Nightmare on Elm Street 2" pressed by Pioneer, jacket and labels all correct, except the disc is "Nightmare on Elm Street 1". In the case of the 1989 ABC Earthquake disc and "Show Boat", both were pressed by 3M before 3M was using visible mint markings, so a mix-up would be all that surprising. I'm actually shocked there wasn't more of this kind of thing from PDO which never has any mint marks.
More recently, this occurred on the Blu-ray of "Mannequin", where the initial shipments to resellers all went out with "Mannequin" packaging and disc art, but the disc was actually "Mannequin 2: On the Move".
Of course, DiscoVision had this problem too, I've got a "Buck Rogers" disc with "Bernadette Peters" lables, but even more hilarious are the NUMEROUS instances of bonding errors. Two "Side 1" of "On Vacation with Mickey Mouse and Friends" bonded together, but labeled 1 & 2. Side 2 of "Bingo Long" bonded to Side 5 of "Rollercoaster", but labeled Bingo Long 1 & 2. The list goes on.

PDO has mint marks, however they are covered by the label, example :
side 1 : c 1 44212 1002 L side 2 : c 2 44212 1002 L
BR, Edwin OK, I'll grant you this. But how many peel the labels to get the mint markings?

BR, Edwin Oh !!! That's very interesting !!! Thank you my friend I never thought of that !!! How did you retrieve this piece of information ? That would ultimately prove that some of the Taiwanese releases which are thought to be have been pressed by PDO UK due to their outer rings were actually not pressed in the UK as I had always thought ! However I am somehow reluctant to peel off the labels from some of my Asian "PDO" releases.
