Someone on Ebay is selling sealed copies of RAD on laserdisc:

They seem to have a bulk supply of them - they likely got them cheap because they were unsold discounted cut outs with a punch mark in the corner of the sleeve.

If the sleeve didn't have a cutout I might have been interested.

It's attracting a lot of attention with several other Ebay sellers listing their used copies for sale hoping for a big sale!

I bought one as a playing copy at $75 before he jacked the price up. Other than the punch-out hole the sleeve was better than expected. The disc itself had a slight dish to it but plays perfectly with no rot.

The only downside? The seller shipped the disc folded inside a flimsy piece of cardboard with absolutely no other padding. It was a small miracle that it arrived at my door unscathed.

I came across a small cache of undrilled sealed copies about a year ago, but nothing like the quantity that this guy seems to have. He's sold at least 40-50 copies so far at various prices since he started listing them.

I've started to find some other titles that are sealed and listed in lots on ebay.
This is just due to the age of the people who had shops and are dying off and getting their stuff sold off.

I think we might see more of this happening as people clear out their attics and discover boxes of inventory previously stashed away perhaps by a family member who originally worked in the retail laserdisc sector.

In some ways its a miracle since I would have expected unsold stock that didn't sell even when discounted to be sent back to the manufacturer - that's usually what happens with music releases, but perhaps it wasn't possible with laserdiscs.

The odd thing about RAD is I don't think anyone would have assumed it was a going to be a big seller when it was first released to pre-order so many copies in advance. The fact so many remain unsold even when discounted confirms this.

In addition the whole BMX thing had been done several years earlier with the movie BMX Bandits released in 1983 starring the then unknown actress Nicole Kidman BMX Bandits (1983) [SF078-0040]. I'm surprised there aren't more people chasing this original BMX movie rather than RAD which is pretty much a copy.

BMX Bandits has been on Blu-Ray- Rad hasn't even been on DVD, it seems that nobody knows who really owns the copyright to it so it hasn't been out in a long time, hence the high selling prices. I heard this guy sold his first ones around $17 which I would have paid, but then kept raising them til they reached $150! He can keep them at that price.

There are supplies of quite a few out there.
I bought up 3 job lots of 3 particular music LDs that are quite valuable a few years ago - all of them sealed and mint.
