Another sign of an end to the era .....
Martin Landau died at the age of 89 recently. Immediately Space 1999 comes to mind, watched that series as a kid religiously !
One of my fav roles that he played was from CLEOPATRA ...... Phenomenal role for the then young aspiring actor.

Loved his roles in "Tucker: The Man and His Dream" and "Ed Wood" .......
One more title of mention is the heartfelt film "The Majestic" in which Landau plays a standout role as an old theatre owner who celebrates the perceived
return of his son from being M.I.A. during the post WWII era. Jim Carrey in one of his best roles in my opinion. Check that film out if your a Landau fan .....

Once again my heart goes out to his close friends and family.

Thank you Martin, thank you for all the efforts bringing life to the silver screen ..... Go in pax .....

RIP commander Koenig, Mission Impossible "Roland Hand" Martian Landau. :(

Image

I liked the tv show 'Mission Impossible' and the masks "Roland Hand" often wears to fool the bad guys. Fine character actor not a movie star a character actor.

Martian Landu character of "Kurtzweil" to me seemed believable enough in "The X-Files Fight the Future" the way he performed paranoia looking around corners of an alleyway while Fox Mulder, listeners to what he has to say about what the goverment is up to?

Wasn't he in Space 1999? I can't remember as I haven't seen the series in many years.

Note: I was right. He was in Space 1999.

I couldn't agree more. I love the movie, and his performance as Bela was incredible. Martin was a tremendous actor, amazingly versatile, and hugely talented. His is another devastating loss to the film-making community, and to all lovers of cinema. Very sorry to learn of his passing. Let's remember his family in our thoughts and prayers. May he rest in peace.
