Forgot to add we had a French dedicated LaserDisc monthly color magazine running since 1991 that even released a few LDs themselves.

=> Les Années Laser (or LAL)

In a pre-Internet for the mass world, it was pretty much the only way to get news of the Japanese and US markets.

It added DVD and Home Theater news/reviews around 1997, then later dropped LD for HDDVD and BD.

Still exists today!

Media Play stores in the late 90's, Laser Bob's in Phoenix (rentals), COLUMBIA HOUSE LASERDISC CLUB (yes I was a member LoL)
Various electronics stores in greater metro Detroit that were dumping inventory late 90's.
and last but not least THOMAS VIDEO in Clawson, Michigan...

There ya go ........

No purchases in the 80's for me sadly .....
