Do japanese Pioneer gold rental discs suffer from rot or not?
Or is it the same detoriation procedure as with standard discs, rot will appear on some discs, other discs will not suffer?

When Kodak had gold CD-R discs maybe 15 years ago, these blank cd's were considered the best in the industry.
Cudd we say the same thing about japanese gold rental LD's, do they rot or not?

Isn't the gold the color of plastic???? I never had any rentals but did have the fantastic planet which if I remember correctly it was just yellow plastic.

How many LDs do you have in your collection and how many are rotters????

I think you are worrying too much about this small issue, worry about the amount of players working in the future.

The rental discs are just yellow plastic. They do not rot with any higher degree of frequency than the standard "transparent" discs. If you check the mint-marks on any of them, you'll see stampers are the same as the "regular" editions - just with yellow plastic.

I had quite a bunch of those yellow japanese rentals, and have never seen one that had rot.

i thought rental discs had sturdier material for longer life wear n tear issues being a rental disc.
less sensitive to scratches and scuffs

i thought gold discs were more HQ with a better and more thorough manufacturing process (maybe causing less rot problems in the future) than standard discs?

I assume the yellow plastic color were chosen to make it easier to distinguish rentals from sale LDs. It doesn't indicate they're of higher quality in any way. PDO UK used yellow plastic on many music discs, and they're of poor quality.

PDO chose yellow plastic for CDVs because with the success of ordinary compact discs they wanted to ensure consumers would not be confused by launching another disc format with exactly the same packaging and size as CDs so the whole range was coloured gold for consistency and rebranded CD-Video.

I've quite a few gold Hong Kong discs that all play fine.

I always thought it was the metal inside that was gold colored...it looks so solid gold...not like the evil dead red ld for example.... you learn something know everyday...
