The LASERDISC DATABASE states that the Japanese release of the movie 1984 (1984) [L098-5012] is formatted in WIDESCREEN, yet the images I received from a Japanese seller show no English notion of WIDESCREEN. The laserdisc database code numbers match at L098-5012. Does anyone have definitive information on the aspect ratio of this Japanese release of 1984? The price is a bit too steep to guess. Thanks. |

Could you show us an image of the back of the jacket? Usually it says "vista size" (or "scope size" for Cinemascope) in katakana to indicate widescreen. |

This disk was put on sale in February 1986, at that time large screen televisions were not popular, so they never specified widescreen. |

A lot of Japanese releases from this time are “kinda” wide. A very mild letterbox. |
