Does anyone own the Pioneer Special Edition of Bob Roberts (1992)? According to this site, "Commentary by Tim Robbins and producer Forrest Murray."

Image

The Artisan Special Edition DVD has three commentaries:

1. Audio commentary with actor, director and writer Tim Robbins
2. Audio commentary with actor, director and writer Tim Robbins and actor Gore Vidal
3. Audio commentary with political editors Alex Cockburn and Jeffrey St. Clair

Notice that there's no mention of Forrest Murray.

Image

Does anyone own the Pioneer SE LD to verify that the commentary track on it is, in fact, different than any of the three commentary tracks on the Artisan SE DVD?

Are you 100% sure that the commentary track on the 1776 LD is different than the DVD's commentary track?

Yes, there are two different commentaries for 1776:
The 1992 LaserDisc commentary w/Peter Hunt & Joe Caporiccio.
The 2002 DVD commentary w/Peter Hunt & Peter Stone.

I noticed the first edition of THE MATRIX (1999) which has the better colour balance over the dreadful waste of space HD bluray which was taken from a tweaked video manipulating transfer with someone that has poor eyesight vision!
Anyway point I noted was lack of audio commentary on the first edition DVD

The Thing (1982) audio commentary on bluray was edited for some legal reasons I guess regarding Keith David about stealing a car in New York city was removed from the bluray and no doubt later versions of DVD maybe? I know the commentary track was recorded for the “Signature Collection” which I don’t have, I only have the R2 DVD first edition.
I don’t have many Laserdiscs with audio commentaries which was a nice feature to me many Laserdisc-Moons-Ago!

I saw an ebay auction for The Tin Drum special edition LD from Kino and the seller said the commentary is different than the Criterion DVD. Can anyone confirm this?

This is interesting. If a member here can 100% corroborate or refute this, I would be very interested to know!

My The Matrix DVD (snapper case) has the same audio commentary as the LD.

That might be interesting. Okay, I'll look into it, although according to this site, the commentary does NOT involve Keith David as Kurt Russell and John Carpenter are only given credit for it.

The commentary moment is around the time ware Blair goes nuts and starts beating up the radio room and Kurt is standing next door in the corridor just before Keith David enters the scene with rubber black hand glove.

Oh why not just listen to the scene here is quick and dirty DVD vs Bluray. You might have to wait a few secs before I managed to get the audio working as it was direct from the AVR though switching from diffrent player modes.

Interesting. But I'm not sure what this has to do with LaserDisc commentaries not on DVD/BD. AFAIK, the commentary on the Universal Signature Collection box set is the same one that is on the DVD, and other than the stolen car comment, the same one that is on the BD.

The MGM THX Dolby Digital Laserdisc release of Pink Floyd's The Wall has different commentary from the DVD release (which was released by Colombia.)

Pink Floyd's The Wall: Widescreen Collector's Edition

The LD has commentary by director Alan Parker. The DVD has commentary by former Pink Floyd lead man, Roger Waters and animator Gerald Scarfe.

Just remembered another one, Elite's Dawn of the Dead: Collectors CAV Box Set.

Has commentary with George Romero, Tom Savini and Michael Gornick.

The Anchor Bay Ultimate Edition DVD set has different commentary tracks on the different versions of the film. The Extended Cut in the AB release (which is the version featured in the LD Box set) has commentary by producer Richard Rubenstein.

George Romero and Tom Savini provide commentary on the Theatrical Cut DVD in the AB set, but their commentaries are separate tracks.

Can anyone confirm whether the commentary for Cop Land is an LD exclusive? I know there's a commentary on the extended dvd version, featuring director James Mangold and the cast but the LD one only features director.
