Some early releases of dvd were god awful that in my opinion a high end laserdisc player has better video quality. Also I really don't think laserdisc looks that bad on a big 65 inch 4k tv. Maybe my vision is bad but don't think it's bad looking on newer tvs. Some people claim you must be a purest and watch movies on smaller CRT tvs. I disagree and think the format has aged pretty good. I have heard others claim that laserdisc isn't much better than VHS. I disagree on that too and feel like it was a pretty big step-up from VHS. I also have a 43 inch lcd tv that I have my Panasonic LX-h670 hooked up to right now and movies both widescreen and 4:3 look great on it. This is an lcd tv that was designed for composite cables so keep that in mind. However both my lx-h670 and lx-900 looks pretty good on our TCL 65 inch 4k tv which came with a composite cable adapter.
