Blob, The #65 (1958) [CC1165L]

Watched with a Pioneer CLD-D503 Player from 1994 with S-Video

What can you say about The Blob? It's a classic horror movie that needs to be seen by everyone. It's silly, it's outlandish, and it's a fun romp. The beginning is slow and may not grip you in immediately, but if you keep watching, The Blob can grab you as a movie as it does it's victims.

As for the LD edition, it's probably one of the weaker Criterion releases. CLV, No commentaries or deleted goodies, the only extras are trailers for the original Blob, and the remake. The picture is okay, what do you expect from a 1958 horror movie though? The sleeve is nice and glossy. Like with all Criterion releases, you get a long statement on the back from some film fan you've never heard of telling you why the film is great. I will say that there is a Blu-Ray Criterion is out, but it's not cheap.

Movie- 3.5/5 (A fun and goofy classic)
Picture- 3/5 (Take with a grain of salt though, I wasn't using any type of comb filter outside of the one my TV has)
Criterion extras- 2/5 (Kinda disappointing for a movie like The Blob)
Packaging- 4.5/5 (It's a Criterion release, of course it's nice)
