Picked up the Twin Peaks complete box a couple months ago so I could watch the show for the first time. I noticed that on all of the discs, there was smear on the opening logo for the publisher, Worldvision Home Video. As soon as it got past that, and when into the rest of the show, it was gone. Anyone else notice this?

I don’t have this LD but it’s not uncommon for the intro logos and such to look terrible (or sometimes better) than the main feature. There are still DVDs being made with FBI warnings that were clearly sourced from super worn composite video recordings.

Smear is a normal issue on some LDs.

Enjoy collecting LDs.

Interesting. That would make sense. No reason to remake it for every release.

I haven't noticed too much on other discs. I've definitely noticed it between other players. CLD 704 has some noticeable smear. I just found it interesting that it was only present on the intro logo. What signofzeta said makes sense though. It's probably from an old and terrible source, but why remake it if it still works.

You can’t get rid of smear that was there on the master.

Enjoy Twin Peaks, you're in for a treat! I don't own it on LD myself but I've always thought the packaging for both the USA and Japanese ones looked fantastic.

So far my wife and I are really enjoying it. We've only got 4 episodes left. Things definitely get crazy in that show. haha

I checked my Twin Peaks: Complete Box (1990) [ASLF-1029] yesterday and, yes, the opening Worldvision logo is pretty horrible.

The (same) closing logo is surprisingly in much better shape!

Forgive my ignorance, but is the Japanese TP box set just English with Japanese subtitles?
