A friend who knows I like The Prisoner TV series (the original 1967 one) put on a couple of episodes plus other bits from the NETWORK blu-ray set & WOW!!!

I love my Prisoner laserdiscs, the Japanese box sets (which have good transfers & are beautifully presented) & the IMAGE US 1998 issues (which have very good transfers) but I could not believe the picture quality on the blu-ray episodes, got to say superb - so clean & "fresh" they looked as though they were recently shot.

The "village" looked superb with the actual location footage really doing the (beautiful) place justice with the studio footage also looking really good.

I think I will be getting the NETWORK Prisoner set pretty soon, more for the "extras" though but the image on screen is stunning to my eyes.

Be seeing you.

I did not think that there any other people who liked The Prisoner. I remember watching the show on late night TV back in the 1970's. The only problem is that the episodes were not shown in any order leaving you confused.

I have all 17 episodes on LD and plan on watching them in the future.

A lot of TV from the 60s looks amazing on BR. Video tape hadn't come in to use so everything was shot on 35mm.

The US Blu-Ray had an unfortunate approach to fixing errors: they held the last good frame until the bad frame was past, creating a freeze frame momentarily. Drives me crazy, but I guess it doesn’t bother some people. Glad I have lasers.

OK I've never had the Japanese or first LD pressings, the later USA LD pressings were amazing, I did sell them off to get one of the A&E DVD box sets.

But my real question here is for rojan, I was searching about the bluray but haven't seen any comments of this issue, is this only on the bluray?
Even dvdbeaver didn't say anything about this issue and he posts every little thing and comparing all versions or most versions.

Both US and UK Blu-rays didn’t include lossless audio. Lazer has LPCM stereo.

I’ve only checked the US Blu-ray, but I believe that it was derived from the UK set, so probably there, too.

DVDs would’ve come from tape unless they’re a post-Blu issue. They were expensive at the time, so I continued on with my VHS dubs of my dad’s Betamax versions until the Blu. THEN I got the lasers.

I figure that it was damage to the film that they didn’t want to pay for a better fix of.
