Good day Grasshopper,

Sorry to read about your DLP Projector bulb blowing Friend.

I would imagine the price for a new replacement will be around £150 to £245.
Do you know of a good seller on ebay that you could purchase this from ?

The thing is with these bulbs is that a number of new replacement bulbs come with the housing as well and that is what costs the extra cost.

So if it's possible to extract the broken bulb, keep the housing and just purchase a new bulb to fit into the housing would be the best & cost effective solution.

I hope you are able to get this a.s.a.p.

Keep us informed of your progress.

Sincere Regards to you

:(

Isnt that quite risky ? I always thought the reason it came in housing was becouse its so fragile against human hands ?

Good afternoon johan184,

I know someone who ordered a new original from a seller on ebay, he took delivery and fitted the light carefully and I would have thought with gloved hands and he reported all fine.

The difference in price minus housing was around £79 instead of £250.
To be honest I would go this route, as I think as long as they are original and same spec then why not.

Regards to you

:)

It's just like the halogen bulbs used in car headlights. (Heck, you probably *could* retrofit one of those)

The worst bit is putting the housing back together, I'd imagine.

Also some people were looking at LED retrofits, but for someone's main home theater that might not be sufficient.

Good day happycube,

To be honest if I had available funds to purchase the whole replacement however, because I have to watch all that I spend then at least the option remains a good possibility.

Thank you for your input.

Regards to you

I understand, much money for a housing, didnt know it was so expensive. Fair amount of money to save in just ordering the lamp then.

Ditch the DLP and just go Plasma or LCD. Not worth having a TV go down in the middle of watching something.
