Attachment: Seagate 250GB 7200rpm IDE(P-ATA) HDD for the built in media player. Media player has MPEG1/2/4 decoding capability to provide high quality media playback. External USB disks and/or the included 200GB internal hard disk can be used to store various video clips including the MPEG2 TS video taken by the new HDV cameras. It can also play .ISO files. I ripped most of my DVDs into .ISO files. Media player can play them like DVDs with menus, subtitles, audio options. Since it's a direct line from the mpeg decoder, VP gets perfect unaltered(similar to SDI) feed. |

Attachment: Texas Instruments TVP5160 chip used for 3D/2D 5 Line (5H) adaptive comb filter + TBC + 3D adaptive analog noise reduction. 3D comb filter can be defeated. When enabled it has 4 controls with 100 increments. Luma gain, Chroma gain, Luma coring, Chroma coring. Gain controls how fast the comb filter should switch between 2D and 3D and coring controls what it should consider noise, static, not moving and what it should consider moving. |

Attachment: VPS-3800 and VPS-3300 rear. VPS-3300 missing firewire ports between Ethernet digital inputs. All video inputs are BNC connectors. 4 HDMI (profile 1.1) inputs. 2 HDMI(profile 1.1) outputs. 3 Digital coax input, 1 optical input. 1 Digital Coax output, 1 optical output. RS-232 control. IR input, output. 2 USB 2.0 inputs. Ethernet port for media share/transfer(needs FTP), 3 RCA analog inputs, 1 RCA analog output. Thanks for dual architecture(Faroudja and Gennum chips)unit can process 2 separate sources simultaneously and output from 2 separate HDMI outputs. It can do PIP and Split screen as well. |

I think 32MB but don't quote me on it, it probably has the firmware for the unit, you can make an embedded Linux system fit into that. |

I know there is a few other forum members who owns a Crystalio II(or two like me). After much tweaking and adjusting I found the right settings for LD picture. I own a Pioneer HLD-x0 and McIntosh MLD-7020(Pioneer CLD-97) as players. These settings were consistent on Pioneer units so I believe they can be used for other Pioneer models. I will start with picture settings. D-Ext function on HLD-X0 crushes blacker than black(btb) so it's not recommended. I believe HLD-X9, CLD-S9 and a few others have this function. These settings were adjusted on fully calibrated Pioneer Elite Kuro plasma monitor on ISF night mode. They are correct adjustments for a totally dark room. Brightness: -28 Contrast: 12 Color: 5 Sharpness:-15 Tint: -5 Output settings are: Resolution:1080p Frame Rate: 59.94 Color space: RGB 16-235 Over scan: %1 Position: 0,-1 Y/C delay: 1 Sub pixel delay: 0.25 Faroudja DCDi: enabled True Life: Off Chroma up sampling error(cue) filter: OFF Dot-crawl filter: dynamic Chroma traps: Level 3 3D comb filter settings: 3D comb Filter: enabled Luma Gain: 5 Chroma Gain: 0 Luma coring: 18 Chroma coring: 0 Smooth scaling: -2 De-interlacing mode: film 3:2 for movies and video for anything else aspect ratio: 4:3 Letterboxed or 4:3 for FS Gennum VXP noise reduction: off Faroudja noise reduction: off or low(use only one) 3D analog noise reduction: up to mid (do not combine Faroudja and 3D noise reduction) Note: 3D analog noise reduction is a part of texas instruments tvp5160 chip. Crystalio II uses the 4mb full configuration chip with 3D/2D 5 line motion adaptive filter, TBC and analog noise reduction functions. TBC is default always on. IF 3D comb filter settings are adjusted correctly, noise is reduced by a lot already. |
