Wanted to start this thread in order to find a suitable DVR or PC capture card with 4D comb filtering and high resolution ADC using composite. Haven't found any such devices but did come across displays with such comb filters. Thought it'd be a good idea to have a list somewhere in the forums, of devices with real 4D comb filtering for composite video.

Here's a start :)

Never heard of a 4D comb filter--4 line comb filter, but 4D. Since it's used on CCTVs like a few of the models you listed, I can only imagine it increases the detail of still images even further. That's just my guess.

I'm inclined to agree, since several of the quoted models list 3D comb filters first. It sounds like this is only for stills.

I find it unbelievable there's no such thing as a good capture card for 480i analog video still. We live in the year 2014, and capture cards still use AGC. Most still seem to use 10-bit ADC's still. Only ATI Theater cards seem to have better 12-bit ADC's. What's the big deal about offering manual AGC anyway? The only good capture cards still seem to be the really old 8-bit bt8x8 based cards with dscaler. I swear my older winfast tv2000 bt8x8 looked way better than the PVR-150 (and yes I capture lossless with PVR-150).

BTW, the PVR-150 samples to 4:2:0 when capturing lossless (custom hm12 codec). It is built for mpeg2 encoding in hardware, but even the mpeg2 codec allows 4:2:2 sampling. The colors, do look like $hit even though it theoretically prevents that with oversampling. This card feels like a toy.
