Tomorrow I am picking up a 34 inch Toshiba HD CRT set. Can anyone recommend a good stand for it? I'm looking for an inexpensive stand.

A sturdy wooden closet or how is it called, would do from a thrift store/2nd hand store.
I have this:

The flat tube Toshibas are lighter than the comparable WEGA's so you have a little more leeway than those.

Find a wooden TV stand with no glass and make sure the vertical planks are thick and connected sturdily.

Was it this model?

i've this old GUSDORF stand that i found at a thrift for like $20 or $30 about a half-decade back,
that nicely houses my day-to-day use video game consoles, my JVC HR-S8000U S-VHS, and my 46in. HD monitor;

My 34" HD CRT would fold that thing so flat you'd be able to run it through your ink jet printer.

Aside from the stand it came with, there are perhaps two or three pieces of furnature in my house that could hold my XBR960.

this was how i rolled with the last CRT i ever owned, a late-90's 32in. TOSHIBA,
before i had gotten that great GUSDORF stand i have now, and intend to stick with;

moved to this far broader, but actually much more rickety affair i had gotten from my grandma.
had to strengthen it with a bunch of wood screws. it at least enabled me
to employ that Hi-Fi-rack-like shelf unit for something more like it's best-suited purpose;

Image

finally got that GUSDORF in like, 2009/2010, best i've had by far, Rock Solid.
had the CRT for maybe a couple more years. got my first HD video source in like 2011 or so,
a SONY PlayStation 3, which necessitated a move to an HD display.
ever since, i've been so impressed by how well the HDM processes analog SD that i haven't missed a CRT since;

I don't think you understand how heavy these things are. I'm trying to formulate a plan for just how I'm going to recycle mine when it dies. I'll have to like...hire help...probably rent a vehicle to take it to the place. Just to get my TV way up there on that tall stand of yours you'd need either an engine pick or a couple of pro weight lifters, and then you'd want to keep all pets and children out of the room because if it toppled onto them everyone gets a quick trip to the basement.

Btw, why is everything in your store so high up in the air? Doesn't your neck just kill being bent like that all the time? Maybe you watch movies standing?

Yeah, WEGA's are the very opposite of light and are in a league of their own when it comes to weight.

I could lift a standard 32" CRT like that one you have there by myself (couldn't carry it far, but I could lift it.)

A 32" WEGA? My brother and I barely manage (and he hates it when I bring up when we went and got the 40" WEGA.)

Preaching to the choir. I have a 36" WEGA that I'm not totally sure what I should do with, just been sitting out of the way. Still works, but it's so damn heavy. Online sources has it weighing in at almost 250lbs.
