Sometimes i think my eyes don't work right. Normally I just run my LD player directly into my tv with no complaints, but last night out of curiosity I thought I'd trying it though my D-VHS VCR. I plugged into the in ports on the front of the player and have component going from the VCR to the TV. Long story short I'm not totally convinced I noticed a difference. Is the VCR doing any kind of up converting? Should I invest in a DVD recorder? Or since I was content running it directly into the TV, should I just stick with what I know? Ignorance is bliss after all.

Is it a jvc dvhs vcr? Jvc dvhs vcr have a good comb filter that is 3d adaptive. It is roughly equivalent of the comb filter in hld-x0 which is similar to cld-99. Dvhs decks upconvert to 1080i but nothing spectacular in that. The contribution certainly comes from the better comb filter in the vcr.

Yes it's a JVC D-VHS VC, JVC HM-DH40000U. Maybe I'll screw around and try it out some more. Like I said, worse case scenario I keep enjoying it the way it was.
