anyone know whats the best converter and upscaler to purchase for my player? I have a 70 inch Vizio that i purchased from Walmart so i want to get the best video i can from my player. I'm fairly new to the world of Laserdisc so any help will be greatly appreciated.

It's going to cost a lot more than the TV.

The device you linked, while I've never used one, seems very utilitarian to me. It seems aimed at people who need to convert SD to HD and that's about it. I wouldn't expect it to do a better job than whatever is built into your TV.

You'd be better off just getting a dedicated LD display from Craigslist, probably for free. A friend just gave me a 20" Toshiba that makes everything NTSC look amazing. While it may not make a lot of sense at the moment, that's usually the best path, economy-wise.

Even with the best conversion on the market, LD is still going to *really* show it's seems at 70". That's about twice as big as the biggest TVs from when LD died, and about four times the average set from when it was first put on sale.

I understand. I agree it's a big tv. I just watched a movie on it and it looked and sounded great. Just wish there was something around to clean the image up just a tad bit. Thank you for the response.

Films will look better without any zooming.
Also don't forget the limits of what an LD can and can't do.

The only way I was ever able to make my LDs look better than DVD was on a 27 inch CRT connected with such and such a player and such and such a TV.
My LDs always looked great on my SD projector once I figured out the issues when moving into a smaller place.

You know now that you mentioned that. I was thinking of getting a projector.

I've used that converter. Your TV will probably do a better job plugging the composite straight into the TV.

Off-topic, but I'd love it if you were the actual Razor Ramon!

What are the available inputs?

Since you're based in the US I suggest going for a used scaler like a DVDO iScan or something with a Faroudja chip. Those give you great bang for your buck and are certainly doing a much better job with the signal than your TV.
