I recently obtained a CLD-97 and I'm trying to create a good workflow for capturing laserdiscs in standard 720x480i. I've read up on the Lumagens, Crystalio, Faroudja NRS, etc, but what if I don't need scaling and deinterlacing? Are these still the recommended external comb filters? I am not capturing for viewing on a high definition television, and I can deinterlace in avisynth. Also, what about capture cards? As long as I can capture lossless video and uncompressed audio, without triggering AGC, I'm good to go. Thanks in advance. |

If you want to capture LD, I would no recommend any video processor at all. Those are for watching LD only. Take your time to look around the forum about capture cards and methods. |

I have a mac so I don't know what programs are good but as far as devices go AVR media portable 2 Live Gamer (mac and PC)is what I use but you would have to connect the LD Player to a machine with either component or HDMI out. |

You need to buy the ADV7800 evaluation board and write code for it to allow 480i output. This is not a consumer product but a platform for electronics manufacturers to build their own board around the adv7800 chip which has the best 3D comb filter in existence. It is a naked circuit board without a box or any controls, it does have analog inputs and hdmi output however. The only way to control is through its usb input and flashing its software. No pre-loaded software, you will have to write your own code. You can write your code to have TBC and 3D comb filtering enabled but no de-interlacing or other processing. You can then feed the HDMI output to your capture card. Lumagen Radiance 2144 uses this same chipset however it outputs 480P. Lumagen can technically alter the code to output 480i but since its a discontinued product, I doubt this will ever happen. The only other contender in the list you have above is the Crystalio II however its comb filter is not as good as the adv7800 in the Lumagen Radiance 2144. It also doesn't allow 480i output. All other video processors and external comb filters are too weak to compare to these two. We have a Lumagen Radiance 2144 forum here. If there is enough users demanding 480i output, I might be able to convince Jim to add a passthrough option. Perhaps a paid upgrade option which they did in the past for the original Radiance owners. They offered a $500 upgrade software which allowed 3D video processing. |

I'd be very interested in paying for a 480i output option. I don't want to capture at 480p, and the only interlace option is 1080i. |
