I have my LD player going into a Pioneer DVD recorder (by composite cable) and then into my 73 inch Mitsubishi DLP by components (no HDMI on the DVD). I now plan on sending the component out of the DVD to a Onkyo receiver with a Marvell Qdeo video processing chip (for de-lacing and up scaling purposes) and then out to the HDMI input of my DLP. The Qdeo literature claims to do 3D comb filtering as well. So the question is-what happens when the DVD recorder and the A/V receiver both have a 3D comb filter? Is there any benefit in even having the DVD recorder in the chain? Or will the Qdeo just re-process what it's being sent upstream? Anything else I can add to the chain outside of spending 1000 plus on a dedicated video processor?

Thanks for any guidance.

It can’t comb component. Comb filters are for composite. Maybe I’m misunderstanding something you said.

Nope-that was my question and your answer makes complete sense. So the DVD recorder will only comb the composite signal and then the Qdeo will upscale and do whatever else its designed to do after receiving it from the DVD recorder (?)

Thank you!

Yes, probably, but you have the gear. Set it up and you tell us.

Will do. I was in the market for a dedicated video processor (like a DVDO Edge Green) but since I also needed a receiver I thought this was a good compromise.
