I'd love to be able to sort my collection by the year the movie was released. There are options for soundtrack, picture aspect, play mode and so many more but why not year? The info is already there, just not sort-able.

Am I missing something?

Thx

Just click on "Released" at the top of the titles listing to sort by release date!

Year of film release, not LD release, is what he’s thinking about, I’m pretty sure. Big difference.

That would be nice, also a way to find silent films would be nice too.

What is technically the soundtrack for a silent film????? that's the only way to search in collections or the entire site.

Let's see what I can do with a quick fix.

Either as a link only available in Collections or, if I modify the search/list/display, global to any search result/list.

Correct, the year the movie was produced not when the LD was released.

Thank you for looking into this!

Done for collections (most recent first)!

https://www.lddb.com/collection.php?action=list&format=ld&sort=year

Based on this, my oldest is: M: Fritz Lang's #356 (1931) [CC1508L]
My most recent: Pioneer Reference Disc (2001) [GGV1069]

I think there's a lack of consistency between listings. The entry for the US CinemaDisc Battleship Potemkin for example lists "Russian" as spoken language, despite there being no spoken language (since it's a silent film, duh), while the entry for the Japanese non-Moroder version of Metropolis correctly lists "none" as spoken language and "Japanese" as subtitles. "Silent Film" is it's own category, but neither one of the above is in it.

I think someone needs to go through all of them and standardize the entries!

As much as I'd love to, I feel rather conflicted about editing entries for releases I don't actually own.

I mean I suppose I could just search for every silent film I can name from memory and just change the category to "silent film". It probably wouldn't cover all of them but hey, it's a start!
