when you buy a new movie (say batman, with it's factory warner bros sleeves), are the factory sleeves poly-lined for best protection?

don't worry about the sleeves, pause or anything else.
if you already have some money saved up for LD then wait till you get one, then start asking questions again.

you have more info than i did back in 2004 and i had an LD player for 15 years at the time.
so wait till you get one then start asking stuff.

no difference in sleeves, some like one over the other.
just get the player, watch some stuff and then start asking questions.
